The craft of arranging, rocks, stones, driftwood and aquatic plants is something not many have the patience and or dedication to accomplish. This art known as Aquascaping is all about aesthetically making an under water garden within an aquarium. Although Aquascape designs include a number of distinct styles, including the garden-like Dutch style and the Japanese-inspired nature style. One of my all time favorite style are Japan inspired aquariums.

When creating an aquascape one of my primary goals is to create a natural and artful looking earth made piece but with since there are many technical aspects one must consider many factors. For example, there is the aspect of aquatic plant maintenance, proper filtration, the control of carbon dioxide levels and proper lighting to promote and support photosynthesis underwater.

There are many more factors to take in consideration, but I must say that aquascaping is a way for me to relax and get closer to nature. Yes, I do live in the hectic city of Los Angeles, California and I must say aquascaping has really helped me experience and learn more about our lovely Oceans and mother Earth.
